This was a self-initiated brief for my final major MA project. I was interesting in the meaning in why.
I wanted to see if something is introduced with no-given meaning is it possible for a ‘non-thing’ to become something? The piece has no given meaning but that is not to say in has no meaning. The problem is that we equate design with the purpose of the object but this is why the object exists and is not necessarily related to what it will become. Its meaning can only be attained by existing. There is no given thus no right or wrong. This is the absurd task.
I created a shrine to act as a trigger to encourage further investigation. Instead of people looking at why I created this piece, which is looking at my intentionality to give meaning. I want people to ask what, through this act of interpretation they will become responsible for determining what it becomes. These interpretations will create nonsense myths, which will become the things meaning.
