To come up with a piece for the Wolff Olins homepage that illustrates the idea of “New”.
I found an inspirational quotation: ‘Everything at its first occurrence is new: that is novel is so much of the ordinary course as to strike us with surprise.’ Something is only new in the first instant that it exists: it subsequently ceases to exist as new but still lives on. The piece can continue to generate new elements which appear on top of those already created.
I worked with Hudson-Powell who created the piece. It is interactive and never appears the same twice, bolstering the idea that something is only new upon first encounter. Every time you press the new icon a new shape appears. It is only new for that instant so you can change it an infinite amount of times.
