Wheat as a symbol of prosperity. The millennium mills is a part of the Silver town development. The mills a symbol of industrialised production will become offices and residential flats. We used the images of wheat and birds to symbolise money and nesting. The aim was to publicise the development as commuters pass by on the DLR.
The images are slowly revealed during the renovation period. Prosperity is represented by wheat, bread, and the image of a home. This idea of nesting is illustrated by the gradual appearance over time of the image as a coherent whole, and th transformation of a field into a nest. The use of Wheat/bread references the association with the mills’ past.
