To create a world for liberty’s using the theme of exotic opulence.

The aesthetic movement and their love for the absurdly extravagant. I was inspired by Bohemian aestheticism - a decadent, restless search for ideal beauty “art for arts sake”. Unconventional attitudes and idiosyncratic ideas about decoration. The ideal of exaggerated excess and elegance, anti-rationalist beauty. The exotic drawn from a rich, sensual melting pot of extravagant cultural influences.

I decided to use the emblem of the ‘Aesthetic Movement’ the peacock feather this is also the motif of one of Liberty’s most popular patterns. I wanted to mix this with a Japanese influence. The link with the orient has always been prevalent. I created an exuberant piece that celebrated the stores history in a contemporary way illustrating Liberty’s association with the forefront of design.
